Additionally, poor soil conditions necessitated the installation of over 100 helical piles to support the new addition, with extra piles required for sections of the existing structure that were elevated above the basement. Another significant challenge was the restricted working and staging space due to the adjacent athletic field and track.
The facility, including the concession stand, needed to remain operational year-round for various collegiate and high school sports, including football, hockey, skating, soccer and track and field. A major challenge arose when it was discovered that the existing wall panels lacked the structural integrity to support the new panels.
Altmann successfully developed a solution that aligned with the design intent for the new façade. Despite these hurdles, the project was completed successfully and without injuries.
