The Story of Altmann Construction

A Legacy of Craftsmanship, Family, and Growth

Altmann Construction began in 1982 when Ed and Lois Altmann launched a small general contracting business from the basement of their home. Built on hard work, integrity, and strong family values, the company quickly earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship and trusted service throughout Central Wisconsin.

By 1992, continued growth led to a move into a renovated office on Highway 54 (Plover Road) in Wisconsin Rapids, where the company continued to expand its capabilities and client base. In 2008, Altmann Construction celebrated a major milestone with the opening of a brand-new facility on the same site — a symbol of how far the company had come.

After decades of hands-on leadership and dedication to the craft, Ed Altmann retired in 2022. He passed away in 2024, leaving behind a powerful legacy: a family business rooted in values, strengthened by experience, and driven by a commitment to excellence in every project.

Leadership Rooted in Family, Driven by Experience

Today, Altmann Construction continues to grow under the leadership of Tom Altmann, who serves as President and proudly carries forward the legacy his parents began. He’s joined by the next generation, with his son Mitch Altmann serving as a project manager and estimator. Lois Altmann remains actively involved in the business, while Tammy Meyers, Ed and Lois’s daughter, leads as Vice President of Human Resources. Her son, Colin Meyers, also plays a key role on the Altmann team — making this a true multi-generational family business.

With more than 40 years of experience behind us, we remain focused on what matters most: delivering high-quality construction projects, building strong client relationships, and serving our Central Wisconsin communities with honesty, care, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
